It seems that lately I have friends, well mostly colleagues or ex colleagues who are either getting married or expecting or just gave birth. I guess my circle of friends now is in that category or in that phase of life to start a brand new journey (… to confinement that is, MUAHAHA just kidding). Did you read properly, I said my friends are in that phase, not me – I am still relatively young, well at least … at heart.
Just last weekend, I visited an ex-colleague who just gave birth and currently in ‘confinement’ (you see what I mean!). In a nutshell, confinement in Chinese tradition, means that no outdoor activity (for at least a month), fluid restriction, horrible ginger herbal soup, no visitor (ok I didn’t realize that until now) and some say no bathing too (More info). It is said that during this period, the body tries to strengthen after the laborious child birth process and if not done properly, it may affect long term health. Nowadays some Mom hires a special ‘nanny’ to take care of them. To me they are like a disciplinary ‘nanny’ for Mommy!, to make sure they stick to the proper regime. Anyway new born babies is a little fragile for me to carry, it feels like the head is about to roll off or I might break their little hands. As expected, I refuse to carry them because if anything were to happen – there isn’t enough time for me to conceive, give birth and return a new baby to the parents (hahaha).
Apart from that, a friend of mine-cum-colleague is also getting married soon. As I may not be able to make it (for some reason), I suggested to her that I will make her a website to showcase her wedding pictures. Frankly speaking, I am not a designer and my designing sense sometimes does not make sense (somehow that rhymes) and the creative person is actually the person getting married. Nevertheless, I will try my utmost best to make it special for her.
I’ve started on her photos – doing touch up, resizing, applying effects etc, this is a very lengthy process for a person like me with LIMITED knowledge and NO experience. Don’t get me wrong here, I am not complaining but rather I am enjoying it. It is like a skill or an art to make a good photo great!. I may not be able to touch up every single photo, hence if you see anything not-so-perfect, please pardon me. I did some research to look for tips and stumble on Digital Protalk website, they offer some really cool insight about wedding photography. For Photoshop lovers, I suggest you visit Photoshop User TV weekly to download their latest podcast featuring on topics like how to use Photoshop to enhance pictures or create special effects.
Photos are just the beginning, what about the actual web site, the content??? Well I am scouting around for a good template, selecting color template etc. Nothing much on this yet but as a teaser, you may check out www.micheginny.com/cheeshion&hooising
The bells are ringing soon… ding dong ding dong
